What is a Raita and how is Mango Raita made?
Raita is the most versatile condiment in Indian cuisine. This side dish is most commonly served with biryani and other main course dishes.
Other than treating it like a side dish or a dip, it can be a healthy dinner option which is a complete food in itself. It is the most refreshing and cooling food during summer with loads of nutrients and also has amazing health benefits.
To make a mango version of this raita, you need to add mango puree as well as chopped mangoes. The rest of the ingredients can vary according to your taste and preferences.
Different ways of serving Mango Raita
Always make sure that mango Raita or any other raita needs to be served chilled. You can serve raita in these ways –
- with biryani
- as a salad
- as a dip with toasted bread or tortilla chips
- as a side dish with any main course

- Mixing Bowl
- Mixer Grinder
Ingredients
- 1 cup whisked yogurt
- ½ cup mango puree
- ½ teaspoon red chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon chat masala powder
- ½ cup chopped mangoes
- 1 onion chopped small size
- ¼ cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1 green chili finely chopped
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine together yogurt, mango puree, red chili powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, sugar, salt, and chat masala powder. Stir well.
- To this add chopped mango, chopped onion, chopped coriander, and chopped green chili.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 1-hour ad serve as a side with any biryani or main course.
