Guacamole is a healthy and easy dip that takes only a few minutes to prepare. A ripe avocado and few other ingredients are all you need to whip up this homemade dip for snacks. Try this super nutritious Mexican style dip with your loved ones.

I make sure to keep a stock of avocados whenever they are available. For me, guacamole is an ideal dinner option. Mainly because it is high in nutrition and a very good source of fat. Hence, having guacamole with baked chips is my quick-fix dinner option for most of the days.

How to know if Avocado is ripe?

You can follow these steps to make sure that the fruit is ripe before cutting

  • Keep the unripe avocados at room temperature. It will take 4 to 5 days depending on the temperature it is kept in.
  • It should look firm from the outside but feel gently soft when you press it.
  • All avocados do not turn black when ripe, only a few varieties turn dark in color.
  • If all the avocados are ripe, then store them in the refrigerator.

Guacamole is a healthy and easy dip that takes only a few minutes to prepare. A ripe avocado and few other ingredients are all you need to whip up this homemade dip for snacks. Try this super nutritious Mexican style dip with your loved ones.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 3 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 small tomato chopped
  • 2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
  • ¼ teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped jalapenos fresh/pickled

Other ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Cut open a ripe avocado and discard the seed. Remove the pulp with the help of a spoon into a bowl. Mash the pulp well until creamy and smooth.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients to the mashed avocado and mix well.
  • Keep in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and serve chilled with nachos, tacos or as salad dressing.
