Lentil Soup
Ingredients
- ¾ cup green gram daal washed & soaked
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 to mato chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic sliced
- 1 tbsp ginger chopped
- 2 green chilies chopped
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper powder
- 1 vegetable stock cube optional
- 5 cups of water
- 1 small piece cinnamon stick
- ½ cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
For tempering:
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ¼ tsp garam masala powder
Instructions
- Discard the cinnamon stick and puree the lentil mixture with a hand blender and set aside.
- Heat butter in a saucepan and fry garlic till it turns light brown in color and then add lentil puree to it.
- Add lemon juice and garam masala powder. Stir well and check the salt. Adjust accordingly if you need to add more lemon juice, salt etc. Bring to a boil and cook on slow flame for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
