Beef Burger

Beef Burger
There is nothing more comforting than a burger that is homemade. Saving on your bills is an added advantage as well as the freshness of ingredients and the level of hygiene.
Usually, whenever I eat in a restaurant, I like to give it a try cooking it at home by merely guessing the ingredients and its recipe. And not to forget the ocean of recipes that you can now find online. This is how I ended up making this one which is a copycat recipe of a burger that I had at Fuddruckers.
I have tried to keep the burger patty as simple as possible as you don’t need to season it too much. This is what I noticed in the reality show ‘Master Chef’ the burgers were prepared with ‘salt’ as the only seasoning. And this is what I found similar in Fudds burger patty that it only had salt as a seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 50 grams of pickled jalapeno peppers sliced
  • 1 large white onion cut into thick slices
  • 1 large ripe firm tomato
  • 5 romain lettuce leaves
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp soya sauce

For the burger patties:

  • 500 grams mince of your choice beef, veal or chicken
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

For the burger sauce: (mixed together)

  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce

Instructions

For homemade burger patties

  • Mix all the ingredients of the burger in a large mixing bowl. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts, and shape each of them into a burger patty with a slight dent in the center. The dent will prevent the burgers from shrinking. Place all the patties on a plate, cling wrap and keep in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Heat some oil in a grill pan and cook the burger patties, 5 minutes on each side or till done.
  • When the burgers are done, simply place a slice of cheese on each burger patty. In the same pan now fry the onion rings on high heat for few seconds along with salt, pepper powder, and soya sauce. Remove while it is still crispy and not soft and set aside.

For the beef burgers

  • Cut burger bun horizontally into two halves. Take the base of the burger bun and spread a tsp of burger sauce. Place the lettuce leaves, slices of tomatoes, pickled jalapenos according to your taste and then keep burger patties with melted cheese followed by the onion rings. Spread some burger sauce on the other half of the bun and place it on the burger. If you wish you can toast the whole burger on a pan or in the oven for a minute.
  • Serve hot.
